"badge heavy". If you are interested in persuing this some, try the following:1. First off, he kept your license because he screwed up and was probably rattled that you didn't have a body in the trunk, etc. 2. Go down to the local station ( we call them sub-stations or divisions in Ca.) and ask to see the "Watch Commander", there is one per shift and he is the boss off the shift. Ask him for a few minutes of his time. Start off by stating the officer didn't give you your license back, and then relate the story of being followed, his attitude being dismissive and condescending, etc. Unfortunately you gave up your rights to "unreasonable search and seizure" when you gave him permission to search your vehicle (that's why I keep used condoms under my front seat). Long story less long, this guy probably has more than a few complaints in his "jacket" (his personel file), and in just about any jurisdiction, a bunch of these get in an officer's way after a while; so add one to his and make sure you get your license back. It's been some years, but I'm fairly familiar with the workings a police dept., and while your complaint may fall on deaf ears, in this more politically correct climate it may cost this prick something along the line. Sorry about your experience, some people shouldn't have a badge on their chests and a gun on their side. Good luck, MMark
